Visual Computing is one of the key research areas of the Department of Computer Science at TU Darmstadt. In simple terms, Visual Computing entails the ability to turn information into images and images into information. Its research topics range from image synthesis over visual data analytics to automatic 3D reconstruction and semantic image analysis. Aside from basic research, which is being carried out in 4 research labs and 2 research groups , the researchers also cooperate in applied research with the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (IGD). A dedicated Masters program in Visual Computing allows students to acquire in-depth knowledge.
